Retreat Opportunities

Some information about retreats available over the next 6 months.

If you haven’t made a retreat before, you might like to try The Coach House, Kilmuir, near Inverness which is running a short taster retreat later this month (see below).  The Coach House is a small, very comfortable retreat house with spectacular views out over the Moray Firth.  If you’re very fortunate you might see dolphins swimming. It offers lots of walks either along the shore or in the woods behind the house. The catering, which is high-quality home-cooked food, can cope with most dietary needs.

You will meet a prayer guide daily who will listen and offer suggestions for prayer and reflection.  Optional morning and evening silent prayer, plus an art space, are also offered. The well-known writer, Margaret Silf, will lead a Fireside Tales retreat in November (see below). Margaret is a wonderful story-teller, so I would expect that retreat to book up very quickly.

There are still spaces available on the following retreats:

24th -26th June - a short taster retreat.

2nd-8th July

16th-23rd July

16th - 24th August

16th-18th September

16th-22nd October

Fireside Tales with Margaret Silf: 7th -11th November

‘Seasoned with Salt’ weekend 25th -27th November, led by Epiphany Group member, Sharon Laidlaw, and Coach House director, Claire Starr

At the other end of the country, and just a few miles into England there will be a silent, Ignatian retreat at Minsteracres, near Consett from 26th August – 2nd September. The retreat will be run by members of the Ignatian Spirituality Centre.

A silent retreat allows you to take time away from your ordinary daily life to create space to reflect on your life and God’s presence with you, however you experience the mystery of God.  Similar to The Coach House you will meet a prayer guide daily when they will listen and offer suggestions for prayer and reflection, drawing inspiration from the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius.
