They bopped into the church … they bopped throughout the service …. they bopped out of the church. Visitors to the Kirkcudbright Jazz Festival mingling with our regulars – and a few friends from St Mary’s (you know who you are!) - enjoying Dave Donohue and his band playing at our 11 am service!
On Friday, 30th June at 6.30 pm the congregations from both Greyfriars and St Mary’s are warmly welcome to celebrate Choral Evensong together in Greyfriars, Kirkcudbright, followed by a Bring and Share Finger Buffet. A woman living in Sidmouth in Devon and a member of the Anglican church has written to the Rector requesting links with Greyfriars. She is a church stained-glass window enthusiast and particularly interested in Kirkcudbright’s art connections and the whole artistic heritage of our town. Please contact the Rector for further details, if you’d like to make contact with her.
Greyfriars’ member, Eric, has been knitting Easter chicks over the last few weeks. It helps pass the time in the cold and grey of winter while waiting for Spring to arrive. His mum taught him to knit as a young boy. He would sit on the doorstep and knit with her and other young children and has been knitting ever since.
The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity was marked in January by an evening service in Greyfriars, followed by coffee and chat, to which members of all churches were invited. The theme this year was ‘Crossing Barriers’ and led by the church in Germany.
