The church looked beautiful in autumnal hues of yellow, yellow ochre, rust brown and deep reds and liberal displays of fruits, vegetables and flowers - which included a 'Showstopper' corn doll made of bread atop a real hay bale.
The body of the church was also full of regulars and visitors. It was a celebration with a nod to times past and times rural with the choice of hymns and the beautiful decorations.
During the service the many gifts of harvest blessing were received. The rector will deliver these to members of the congregation and community who are unable to leave home easily for whatever reason.
Afterwards some of the congregation were able to join members from the other Kirkcudbright churches for an ecumenical meal together in the parish church hall.
